Bienvenue Γ  Bruxelles!

What a week, I can’t believe I’m on the complete other side of this entire planet! Western Europe is about as far from New Zealand as you can get, but it doesn’t feel it. Although I do still have giant bruises from my two day plane ride… what did they do to me?

I’m in Brussels (Belgium), in the most amazing hostel (The Meininger) and I can’t sleep. So here’s what’s been happening so far:

Boxes, you must be so boring

If you walked into my flat, you would have no idea that I am leaving the country on Tuesday (that’s six days). No clue. My clothes are scattered over the floor, my books jostle for space on my shelves, and who knows what’s lurking under the bed or behind the couch or in the garage. Everything remains as it’s always been. Even my travelling pack is hidden away in my flatmate’s wardrobe, nowhere near the rest of my belongings. Am I mad? Am I in denial? Is this trip just a figment of my imagination?

You blew me away (wink)

Perhaps almost puking on the cute Chinese baby next to me wasn’t a great way to start my weekend in the Windy City, but it could only go up from there!

After recovering from the rollercoaster landing and bluffing my way through the interrogational visa acquisition, I could finally look forward to my weekend escape to Wellington. And my wonderful flatty even flew down to share in the fun!
